Cinder (Summer 2016 Spoiler-Free Review)

Cinder

Marissa Meyer

SUMMARY: Linh Cinder is your average mechanic located in New Beijing. Except she's not, not one bit at all. Cinder is an orphaned cyborg who lives with her adoptive mother and sisters. She has no memories before her surgery five years ago. She thought her life couldn't get any more exciting than that, but that was before the Prince of New Beijing stopped at her booth. Prince Kai's trusted android is broken and he needs Cinder to fix her. This one request from the Prince is just the beginning for Linh Cinder and she doesn't even know yet.

RATE: 5/5 Stars

FAVORITE QUOTE: "He was the fantasy of every girl in the country. He was so far out of realm, her world, that she should have stopped thinking about him the second the door had closed. Should stop thinking about him immediately. Should never think about him again, except maybe as a client — and her prince. And yet, the memory of his fingers against her skin refused to fade."

PLAYLIST:

•Mouth Shut- The Veronicas

•Enchanted- Taylor Swift

•Water- Rentatonx

•Ho Hey- Hannah Trigwell

WHAT I LEARNED: Sometimes you have to sacrifice your happiness for the happiness of others.

FINAL WORDS: A futuristic, fantasy, sci-fi novel following a girl who is a retelling of Cinderella, but with a twist. That sentence alone should make you want to this book. This story is filled with nonstop action, suspense, and drama. I loved every part of it and constantly craved for more. The characters were relatable and realistic. The story was like nothing I have ever read before. Cinder stands out completely on its own and I want to see what Scarlet holds.
